Things the AR has done that the AK just couldn’t stand up to or stop:
- Killed Osama bin Laden
- Won the ground war against the Taliban
- Won the ground war against the Iraqi Republican Army
- Won the ground war against the Balkans
- Won the ground war in Kuwait and Iraq against the Iraqi Army
- Won the battle that got Noriega
- Won the ground war in Grenada
- Israel used it against its enemies from the early 70’s to the late 90’s
- Killed a lot more Vietcong than Vietcong killed Americans
The AR-15:
- Is about 3X more accurate from 50 – 300 yards
- It is about as reliable if lubricated properly
- The hand guards don’t start smoking after 100 rounds of rapid fire
- The stamped steel parts don’t fail sending the bolt into your forehead / face
- It was designed for warriors by aerospace engineers, and wasn’t built to the lowest common denominator of user
- Changing the barrel takes 10-15 minutes vs having to find a huge press to push out a pin once you shoot the barrel out.
AR Attributes:

AK Attributes:
- Heavier

Consider this: The AR is a platform that professionals use effectively to destroy professional AK shooters. The AK is a platform that anyone can pull the trigger and send rounds down range. The AK is a platform that professionals haven’t been able to use effectively vs the AR professional.
Is there a better rifle pattern out there than the AR? Probably, possibly, maybe, but the US Department of Defense has been searching for 25 years and still hasn’t found one. I may be a bit biased, but the information is true. 😉
